Savannah is a Tree City USA.
Tree City USA, sponsored by The National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters, provides direction, technical assistance, public attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs in Savannah. Savannah has had many years of holding this designation. Savannah's Tree Board is looking at adding a Memory Tree Lane in Duncan Park where people can dedicate a tree in honor or memory of a person or group.
Savannah is home to many clubs and organizations.
These organizations include: American Legion & Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Daughters of the American Revolution, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 12053, Lions Club, Main Street Inc., Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors, Semper Fedelis, Knights of Columbus, 4H Clubs, PEO, Chamber of Commerce, Extension Club, Savannah Optimists Club and more.
Savannah New Construction Projects.
Savannah's continuing growth includes several projects. New projects under construction include: A new Park for children 12 and under, 4 new Baseball Diamonds, 4 Football/Soccer Fields. Infrastructure construction is continuing on concrete streets, drainage and sidewalks. A new water well for Savannah is located in Amazonia.
Savannah Recently Completed Construction Projects.
A number of projects were recently completed in the downtown area. The completed projects will help create a "Turn of the Century" feel in the City Square area. Projects recently completed: Clasbey Community Center renovations, Downtown sidewalks, New "Brick"/Concrete Sidewalks around the square, Period Street Lighting and Period Signage. Additional projects recently completed were: Upgrades recently made to both the Waste Water Plant and Water Treatment Plant.
